We lead by example. Children want to be just like Mommy or Daddy. The copy and mimic adult actions.
What do your actions say? If you are grumpy, they will be grumpy. If you are happy, they will be happy. A smile is contagious.
Your actions are contagious. You have 2 choices….
1.be a martyr and sulk and complain
2.be positive and take action
The martyr will want a pity party. They will complain to anyone who will listen, just how horrible their family is. They won’t help me. They won’t do this. They won’t do that. My kids fight me on everything.
The positive person will chalk it up to life. The figure if they complain, all that does is make them madder. They decide to do things to please themselves.
So you can look at this problem 2 ways….
Socks on the floor.
1. My family is lazy. They don’t care about anything.
2. Thank goodness there are socks to be left on the floor. Thankfully we have socks, we have a floor, and there is someone in my life to leave them there.
Each time we look at things positive it makes us a little bit happier. When your children see you do things and not complain, they will soon follow your example.
The next time you get upset over something…. take a moment to breathe. You can be mad in the moment, but remember that you are blessed with life and things can and will get better.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
What’s one thing you do each day to make life a little bit happier?
